Oracle has opened its first 'Digital Hub' in Bengaluru to provide Cloud solutions and resources to small and midsize businesses. To provide small and midsize businesses (SMBs) access to the Cloud solutions and resources, Cloud major Oracle on Friday opened its first 'Digital Hub' in Bengaluru. The facility is first of the five 'Digital Hubs,' to be opened in Asia Pacific which will help SMBs leverage Oracle Cloud solutions to streamline operations, boost innovation and gain a platform for growth. "The Cloud is democratising IT and you just need a web-browser or a mobile phone app to take advantage of it," said Francois Lancon, senior Vice-President, Oracle Japan and Asia Pacific, in a statement. London:  A huge extortion cyberattack hit dozens of nations Friday, holding computer data for ransom at hospitals, telecommunications firms and other companies. The attack appeared to exploit a vulnerability purportedly identified for use by the US National Security Agency and later leaked to the internet. The attack hit Britain's health service, forcing affected hospitals to close wards and emergency rooms. Related attacks were reported in Spain, Portugal and Russia. Two security firms — Kaspersky Lab and Avast — said they had identified the malware behind the attack in upward of 70 countries, although both said the attack has hit Russia hardest. The Russian Interior Ministry has confirmed it was hit by the "ransomware" attack, which encrypts data on infected computers and demands payment, usually via digital currency bitcoin, to release it. The board of Snapdeal is expected to meet tomorrow to discuss the potential sale of India's third largest e-commerce firm to larger rival Flipkart. Also, on the agenda will be getting Nexus Venture Partners (NVP), an early investor in Snapdeal, to agree to the sale deal. The seven-member board of Jasper Infotech, which operates Snapdeal, includes representation from investors SoftBank, Kalaari Capital and Nexus Venture Partners (NVP), as well as co-founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal. The valuation of Snapdeal is believed to be one of the hurdles to the deal, as Kalaari and NVP were not in agreement with the valuation given by SoftBank, which is the largest shareholder in Snapdeal. SoftBank has now succeeded in getting Kalaari (another early-stage investor in Snapdeal) to agree but is yet to get NVP on board for the deal. McAfee has released India findings from a recent global study that aims to better comprehend how families’ attitudes and habits are evolving as their homes and lifestyles become increasingly connected. According to New Family Dynamics in a Connected World, on average, adults spend an equal amount of time at home online as they do in interacting with others face-to-face. Spending this amount of time online could be getting in the way of family relationships. BERLIN: In a setback to the social networking giant, a German court has upheld its decision asking it to obtain the permission of WhatsApp users in the country before processing their personal data to Facebook. The court also overturned Germany’s privacy regulator’s order that the companies delete data they had already transferred, a report in technology website InfoWorld said on Wednesday. Last August, Facebook-owned WhatsApp changed its privacy policy to allow the transfer of its users’ personal information to Facebook for processing — a move that has also created a furore in India. The move angered the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, which in September ordered the companies to stop the transfer until they had obtained users’ consent and to delete any data they had already transferred, the report said.
